vera.ai at the International Broadcasting Convention 2024 - meet us in Amsterdam!

You can find us during the convention at IBC AI Tech Zone - Hall 14, Stand 14.AIE8 and learn more about our work in the session by Christos Gavalas and Guillen Torres / Kamila Koronska on Monday 16 September from 10:45-11:15!

vera.ai is thrilled to announce its participation in the upcoming International Broadcasting Convention (IBC), taking place from 13-16 September 2024 in Amsterdam. Οne of the major annual events in the media, entertainment and technology industry will bring together media professionals, government officials, technology buyers, end-users, and members of the press from around the world.

You can meet us in Hall 14 where the all-new IBC AI Tech Zone, powered by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), a key partner in the vera.ai project, is introduced at this year’s event. The AI Tech Zone will be bustling with industry leaders and visionaries eager to explore how AI is transforming the media and entertainment sector. A great opportunity for vera.ai to showcase cutting edge tools developed to enhance verification and combat disinformation.

Among the project outcomes is our so-called verification plugin. It has been designed as a "verification Swiss army knife” helping journalists, fact-checkers, and human rights defenders to save time and be more efficient in their fact-checking and debunking tasks on social networks. vera.ai is in the fortunate position to build on work carried out in previous projects and further enhance this widely used browser extension with additional features and services.

The verification plugin prides itself of more than 100,000 regular usersvera.ai consortium

Truly Media, in turn, is a collaborative platform designed to help verify digital (user-generated) content found in social networks and other platforms. vera.ai is fortunate to be able to build on this work and improve it with AI modules, making the tool's capabilities accessible to the EDMO community and its ever growing customer base (among them German public service broadcaster ZDF - Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen and news agency Reuters). More about this will be showcased in a 30-minute presentation on the main stage on Monday 16 Sep 2024. Athens Technology Center's Christos Gavalas will demonstrate the AI capabilities of Truly Media, featuring examples like a deepfake image of Donald Trump and an analysis of a deepfake video featuring Joe Biden. He will also showcase how the platform can generate automated fact-checking reports.

Guillen Torres of the Digital Methods team at University of Amsterdam (UvA), in turn, will demonstrate the updated verification functionalities available through the verification plugin, designed to support media professionals in their daily efforts in the fight against disinformation. Kamila Koronska (Research Officer in the study of misinformation, also based at UvA) will be on location, too, and will especially coordinate presence and encounters at the booth and support in presentations.

Join our partners from UvA and ATC at IBC 2024 to explore how vera.ai is shaping the future of media verification and AI-driven content analysis. We hope to see you there if you are interested and want to find out more about the vera.ai project and what we do in it, including conducted research, challenges and results.
